The Food and Drug Control Center announced the rejection of a 26,300 ton shipment of soft wheat from Russia on Thursday.

The shipment arrived at Al-Khoms sea port, according to a statement by the center.

The center attributed the reason for the rejection to the high percentage of grains infected with live insects, in violation of the standard for importing soft wheat.

Libya imports 20 percent of its wheat from Russia annually, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization.
