The Libyan file will be on the agenda of an official visit by the European Union foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, to Algeria on Sunday.

The European official's visit will discuss several international and regional files, on top of which is "the security situation in the Mediterranean through the issue of clandestine immigration, as well as the situation in each of the Sahel countries, Libya, Western Sahara and the Palestinian cause," according to a statement by the Algerian Foreign Ministry.

Borrell's visit, is his first to Algeria, since he assumed the position of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in 2019
