Italian and Spanish FM's discuss Libya election developments

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio discussed with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Albares, developments in the Libyan political and electoral process.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of a meeting of European foreign ministers in the French city of Brest, on Thursday, according to the Italian news agency AKI.

According to the Italian Foreign Ministry, the heads of Italian and Spanish diplomacy expressed during the meeting their satisfaction with the bilateral relations and joint work in the corridors of the European Union.

The Libyan file and the issue of immigration also received special attention during talks between Di Maio and his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock.

The two ministers discussed the importance of managing the phenomenon of migration, with Di Maio saying that Rome and Berlin are partners in the new negotiations at the European Union level "to support the principle of solidarity and fair sharing of responsibilities" on this issue.
