The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, urged the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to "resume their contacts with a view to accelerating the completion of these electoral laws."
This came during his meeting on Monday, with High Council of State President Mohamed Takala, where Bathily renewed his call to the committee charged with preparing electoral laws to reach an agreement without delay.
Bathily also offered his condolences to Takala for the victims of Storm Daniel, noting that they agreed that political parties in Libya should take the lesson from the solidarity of Libyans from all over the country and put aside their differences.
The meeting then reviewed the mechanisms carried out by the council to reduce the suffering experienced by the residents of the affected areas, in addition to practical steps to rebuild Derna.
