The commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, arrived in Russia for a working visit on Tuesday.
He is scheduled to hold talks with Russian officials on developments in Libya and bilateral relations between the two countries, according to the General Command's Information Office.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-bek Yevkurov received Haftar upon his arrival, where he was given an official reception with the national anthems of the two countries being played.
The General Command's Information Office said that Haftar's visit came "after an invitation received from the Russian Federation".
The visit comes a week after the Russian Deputy Defense Minister met with Haftar in Benghazi on September 17th.
During that visit, Yevkurov offered his condolences to Haftar and the Libyan people for the victims of flooding, stressing Moscow's endeavor to support the areas affected by Storm Daniel in eastern Libya.
Russia provided relief materials to support those affected by Storm Daniel in eastern Libya through three planes that arrived at Benghazi's Benina International Airport on September 15 and 16.
