The Speaker of Libya'sHouse of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, reiterated "the need for a unified government on all Libyan soil with the specific task of organizing elections," during a meeting with UK Ambassador Caroline Hurndall on Wednesday, according to an announced by Parliament spokesman Abdullah Bliheg.
Saleh received Ambassador Hurndall at his residence in the city of Al-Qubbah in eastern Libya, as part of her visit to the region, which began on Monday.
Bliheg added that the meeting also dealt with recent developments and efforts made to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections, especially the work of the 6+6 Joint Committee to Prepare Electoral Laws.
During her visit to Eastern Libya, the ambassador also met with Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the mayor of Benghazi municipality, and political, social, and tribal leaders in the region.
