The head of Libya's Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday before the official results of the Turkish elections were announced.

Dabaiba tweeted, "I congratulate my brother, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on winning a new presidential term," considering that "this victory came as a renewal of the Turkish people's confidence in President Erdogan's successful projects and policies that placed his country in the ranks of developed countries."

Dabaiba continued: “I salute the Turkish opposition for its protection of the political process and its adherence to the rules of democracy. Even if they were not successful in reaching the presidency."

It is noteworthy that the Turkish Supreme Electoral Commission has not announced the results of the poll so far, but it said that the announcement of the election results will not take long, as happened in the first round.

The head of the commission, Ahmed Yanar, said that voter turnout in the second round of the Turkish presidential elections is very high, with a participation rate of 83.99%.

Preliminary results show Erdogan leading 52.61% of the vote, compared to 47.39% for Kilicdaroglu, after 91.55% were counted, according to the Anadolu Agency.
