The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Libya's interim Government of National Unity announced on Thursday evening that the Libyan Military Attaché building in Khartoum was subjected to an armed attack.

The ministry condemned the attack in a statement, saying it "caused material damage to the building," but noting that members of the Libyan diplomatic mission had previously been evacuated from the Sudanese capital and returned to Libya.

The Foreign Ministry called on "all relevant Sudanese authorities to prosecute those proven to be involved in this criminal act that harms relations of cooperation between brothers and violates the Vienna Agreement on Diplomatic Relations, and all laws and customs regulating diplomatic work between countries, which stipulate the need to provide protection for embassies and diplomatic missions."

The ministry also renewed its "solidarity and full support for recovery in Sudan, and continues to encourage all parties to the Sudanese crisis to give priority to dialogue and solve outstanding problems by peaceful means, in a way that guarantees the stability and prosperity of Sudan."
