The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced the arrival of shipments of electrical equipment through Mitiga International Airport and Tripoli Sea Port for the South Tripoli and Zueitina power stations.

The company said in a statement that the company's main warehouses received 48 parcels supplied by the German company Siemens and U.S. company GE.

The equipment will be used to carry out long-term maintenance of the gas units currently being implemented, it added.

"This comes as part of the continuous and strenuous efforts undertaken by the company's board of directors to renew the generation units to extend their life and raise their productive performance in support of the electrical network."

GECOL noted that it expects “more shipments of equipment and necessary spare parts to arrive" for upgrades in the coming period.
