The European Union's Ambassador to Libya, Jose Sabadell, affirmed the Union's continued participation in supporting a number of development projects in Libya, and providing technical assistance to a number of sectors.

This came during a meeting with Presidential Council leader Mohamed Menfi on Monday, following the high-level meeting of the working group on international humanitarian law and human rights.

A statement from the Presidential Council said, Menfi stressed the importance of the role of the European Union mission in supporting development, providing technical aid and its contribution to the political process in Libya.

He noted the importance of the role of the European Union in supporting the national reconciliation project.

The council also announced on Monday, th "signing of a declaration of intent to enhance joint action in the field of international humanitarian law and human rights", with the participation of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Abdoulay Bathily, and the co-chairs of the working group.
