On Tuesday, the head of the Administrative Control Authority, Suleiman Al-Shanti, issued a decision to suspend the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Adel Jumaa, from his position.

Al-Shanti said, according to the text of the decision, that Adel Jumaa was suspended from work as required by a pending investigation.

The letter called on the competent authorities and departments to implement this decision, without elaborating further details on the reasons for the decision.

Last September, the head of the interim Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, called on Jumaa to explain accusations against him revealed in an Audit Bureau report.

Dabaiba said in a press conference, directing his words to Jumaa: “They said you took 400,000 from the social security fund. Explain to us how this happened?”.

The minister responded by saying: “I sent a letter to the head of the Audit Bureau which included a financial contract that was coordinated between the Social Security Fund and the Cabinet. The contract was closed, Alhamdulillah."
