The Brega Oil Marketing Company confirmed on Tuesday, the supply of more than 12 million liters of fuel distribution stations managed by Highway Services and Sharara in the cities of Tripoli and Zawiya.

This comes after the head of the interim Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, instructed the Ministry of the Interior to oblige all gas stations, in coordination with the Brega Company and the fuel distribution committee to address the problem of overcrowding at pumps due to shortages.

In a statement on Saturday, the Brega Oil Marketing Company apologized to citizens for the overcrowding and reassured them that fuel would be available in the coming days.

The company explained that the fuel shortage in the two cities came against the background of “difficult circumstances beyond its control” which caused a sharp decline in supplies at the Zawiya and Tripoli oil depots.

The company added that last week two fuel tankers were unable to dock at Port of Zawiya due to "poor sea conditions" and there were delays in diverting supplies from local sources.
