The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, discussed the latest political and security developments in Libya with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna on Monday.

Bathily said in a tweet that he renewed his call to all international parties concerned with Libyan affairs to coordinate their positions and unify their support for holding elections during the meeting.

Last Friday, Bathily met with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who said that his country would work with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to "preserve the country's unity and help organize elections in 2023," reaffirming that Libya's stability "is a priority for Italian foreign policy."

Batelli said that he expressed his appreciation for "the continued Italian support for the efforts of the United Nations to facilitate the holding of elections during the year 2023."
