Libyan Presidential Council leader Mohamed Menfi and the US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, reviewed recent steps to break the political stalemate and advance the political process.
This came during a phone call on Monday according to a statement by the Presidential Council.
The statement quoted the US ambassador as saying, "The United States supports the Presidential Council in the national reconciliation project, and the progress it has made through the preparatory forum that was held during the last few days."
The Presidential Council held a preparatory meeting from January 8-12 for an upcoming national reconciliation conference in Tripoli. The House of Representatives and High Council of State were absent, despite the participation of a number of foreign officials.
