The Turkish Presidency's Communications Director, Fakhruddin Altun, attacked the Western role in the region, including Libya, saying that "the Western colonial regime is the main source of grievances of the modern era... and it is the source of instability and problems in Iraq, Syria, Palestine and even Libya."

Altun said, in a speech at the Tripoli Forum for Governmental Communication, on Friday, that Turkey and Libya “broke someone’s plans in the region,” and were able to agree on moves “in line with their own interests”.

He added: “With joint determination and will, we will not allow any initiative aimed at undermining the peace between our two countries.”

The Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs in the Interim Government of National Unity, Walid Al-Lafi, received Altun, who arrived in Tripoli on Thursday.

On October 3, Al-Lafi and Altun signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of media, which included: “Cooperation in exchanging visual content, combating false news and media disinformation, and encouraging raising the level of cooperation between the two countries’ news agencies”.
