The Head of Libya's High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mishri, discussed the recent UN briefing by envoy Abdoulaye Bathily with French Ambassador Mostafa Mihraje.

The Tripoli meeting which took place on Monday also dealt with developments in the situation in Libya, according to a tweet by the French ambassador.

In his briefing on Friday, Bathily called for exerting pressure on the political leaders in Libya to expedite the preparation of a constitutional basis for elections, pointing to the possibility of resorting to alternative solutions in the event that the heads of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State did not reach a consensus on this file.

Bathily also revealed an upcoming meeting that will bring together the two parties with the Presidential Council.

He indicated that it will be held in Libya, saying he informed the head of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, “to obtain the maximum degree of possible support for the electoral process."
