The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the government appointed by Libya's House of Representatives, Hafed Gaddur, said that the ministry will hire an international law firm to defend the Libyan citizen Abu Agila Masud who is being held in the United States for his alleged involvement in the Lockerbie case.
He added that the ministry determine the manner in which Masud's extradition process took place and its compatibility with local and international laws.
On Wednesday, Public Prosecutor Siddiq Al-Sur announced the opening of an investigation into Masud's extradition “without legal procedures".
