The Ministry of Justice for the government led by Fathi Bashagha and appointed by the House of Representatives called for the immediate release of citizen Abu Agila Masud and his return to the homeland, holding the parties responsible for his "kidnapping" responsible for the legal consequences of this illegal act.

The ministry said in a statement that it stands against terrorism in all its forms, but “the legal duty and sovereignty of the Libyan state urge us to demand the release of citizen Abu Agila Masud Al-Marimi, a former Libyan intelligence official, who was convicted of charges unrelated to the Lockerbie incident, which was closed, and no new claims may be opened for any acts committed between the parties against the other before 30 July 2006."

The Ministry has stated that it is following “with great concern and condemnation the current situation that affects the sovereignty and independence of the Libyan judiciary".
