The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, said on Saturday, that the way out of the crisis in Libya is for the Libyans to come together to find a Libyan solution.

This came during his meeting with parliament-appointed Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha, where the UN envoy affirmed his "commitment and that of the United Nations to facilitating and supporting Libyan efforts to overcome the political impasse in order to achieve peace and stability for the Libyan people".

Earlier, Bathily met in Benghazi with Marshal Khalifa Haftar, where he stressed the importance of preserving the ceasefire agreement, and unifying the security and military institutions in Libya.

He explained that the meeting comes within the framework of his intention to "listen to all Libyan stakeholders," and stressed the United Nations' support for "a sustainable Libyan-owned solution to restore peace and stability to Libya."
