Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said that Libya is a country known for its wealth and that the welfare of its people is supposed to be clear to all, but circumstances made the country live in a crisis that he hopes will end by next year.

Tebboune expressed his thoughts during a joint press conference with Libyan Presidential Council leader Mohamed Menfi in Algiers on Wednesday.

He added he was optimistic that the Libyan crisis would be resolved soon, “because all friends in Europe and abroad, even our brothers, are certain today that the solution in Libya inevitably passes through elections and according to what is decided by Libyans themselves, without interference from any party.”

Tebboune stressed that Algeria’s position “has not changed” towards the crisis, as it advocated for a “Libyan solution” that would be the only one capable of achieving stability and prosperity.
