Libya's parliament-appointed prime minister briefed Parliament Speaker Aguila Saleh on the performance and achievements of his government since gaining confidence, especially with regard to "entering the capital, Tripoli, peacefully and without bloodshed."

Fathi Bashagha was accompanied to the meeting by Deputy Prime Ministers Khaled Al-Osta and Salem Al-Zadma, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hafez Kaddour, Minister of Planning and Finance Osama Hammad, and Minister of State for Legislative Affairs Muhammad Abu Zakiya.

A statement published on parliament's Facebook page said that Bashagha repeatedly stressed that “entering Tripoli will not lead to igniting war or spilling the blood of Libyans,” but that the government’s tasks will be carried out from the cities of Benghazi and Sirte in light of the current conditions.

The meeting also dealt with “providing services to the citizen, and working on urgent files related to the daily life of the citizen, in addition to a number of files related to the work of the government during the coming period.”

During the parliament session held on September 15, the parliament issued nine decisions, the most prominent of which was obligating Bashagha to start the government’s work immediately and summoning him to present the government’s findings on obstacles it faces.

Last Monday, Bashagha said that he would soon announce he will soon announce a plan which will focus on “bringing stability, peace and prosperity… and ensures that we reach simultaneous, free and fair presidential and legislative elections.”
