The General Department for Coastal Security announced that the bodies of six migrants were recovered from the Qasr Al-Akhyar area on Sunday.

The department said in a statement that it responded to the scene accompanied by the Tajoura Ambulance and Emergency Service after receiving a notification of the presence of bodies in the area.

On Saturday, Qasr Al-Akhyar Municipal Council called for an intervention to save citizens who were forced to leave their homes as a result of the bodies washing up on the seashore during the summer months.

The council added in a video clip entitled “A statement from the elders and citizens of Qasr Al-Akhyar” that the bodies emit foul odors, causing fears of diseases outbreaks and panic among the citizens.
