Government of National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba, and Libyan Arab Armed Forces Commander, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, congratulated Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the occasion of his assumption of the UAE's presidency, succeeding Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
This came during two separate meetings during which Dabaiba and Haftar offered their condolences on the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In turn, Mohammed bin Zayed thanked Dabaiba and Haftar, "expressing his appreciation for the feelings of solidarity they expressed towards the UAE and its people in their affliction, and wishing Libya and its brotherly people harmony, peace, development and stability," according to the Emirates News Agency.
The two meetings were attended by Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Special Affairs Adviser at the UAE Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the Emirates and Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the UAE Supreme National Security Council.
On May 14, the Federal Supreme Council unanimously elected Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates, to succeed the late Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Libyan Presidential Council leader, Mohamed Menfi, offered his condolences during a short visit last Sunday.
