Afriqiyah Airways said on Tuesday, that it is seeking to transfer its flights to other nearby airports to avoid any delays that may occur as a result of the confusion faced by travelers returning from the Holy Land, through Jeddah Airport.

The airline added that the flight delays resulted from severe congestion in air traffic and the inability of handling companies and airport services to meet the requirements of flights for all international companies operating to and from Jeddah Airport.

Afriqiyah Airways added that Jeddah Airport witnesses a large number of flights taking off and landing from all over the world to return pilgrims, which has caused delays for all international companies.

It pointed out that the timing of flights is linked to ground services and when one flight is delayed, the rest are affected, noting that it is seeking to transfer its flights to other nearby airports to avoid any delay that may occur.

King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah has witnessed congestion during the past day, as video clips via Twitter showed a large number of passengers sleeping inside and outside the airport.
