A hotel in Italy has demanded that Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saadi, pay $450,000 for hotel bills due since 2007.

The British 'Daily Mail' newspaper reported that Saadi Gaddafi left his Cadillac Escalade ESV 6.2 in the parking lot of the five-star Excelsior Hotel in Rapallo after six weeks of residence there in 2007.

Saadi Gaddafi was a member of the Sampdoria Genoa football club at the time but he did not participate in any of the team's matches.

He was cut from the team and left the country, but ignored repeated attempts by the hotel to make him settle his bill.

The Mail added that Gaddafi's son regularly hosted "lavish champagne parties in one of the suites", but left without paying his bill, leaving his £70,000 armored SUV parked outside the hotel and ignored messages asking him to pay the dues.

Aldo Werdin, director of the Hotel Excelsior, told the Daily Mail: “We have been waiting 15 years for Mr. Gaddafi to settle his bill. Over the last few years we have tried many times to try and get this matter resolved but with no success. We even contacted the Libyan Embassy in Rome but they were unable to help.

'He left the car at the front of the hotel and we don’t even have the keys for it. It’s actually become a bit of an attraction with people stopping to take a look at it.

'We have to give it a clean every now and then as having a dirty car outside the hotel wouldn’t be very good for guests and it doesn’t even have an Italian log book so we couldn’t drive it here.

'He was a bit of a character and quite a playboy, he would have women visit him from London and Tripoli and the nights were always very loud and noisy when he was entertaining.

'There was loud music and he even set up a barbecue on the terrace where they would grill lamb at all hours of the day and night.”

After his father's death Saadi was smuggled across the border to Niger. He was eventually extradited back to Libya in 2014 where he was given a seven year jail term before being released last year.

The Daily Mail report suggests that Saadi is currently dividing his time between between Turkey and Mauritius and last month contacted the hotel asking them for help in arranging the return of his car.
