Libyan Government of National Stability (GNS) Prime Minister, Fathi Bashagha and Spanish Ambassador to Libya, Javier García-Larrache, stressed the need to "avoid violence and support peaceful and legal solutions to ensure the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections within a specific time frame."

This came during a meeting of the two parties on Sunday in Tunis, to discuss the latest developments in the political situation, according to a statement published by Bashagha's media office.

The statement quoted Bashagha as saying, "we have close relations with Spain, as we are connected by the Mediterranean, we can work together in various fields, the most important of which are energy, combating terrorism, organized crime, agriculture, water security and others."

Earlier on Sunday, the US ambassador and envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, announced the readiness of Bashagha and Dabaiba to "engage in urgent negotiations" to discuss how to manage the final stages of the interim government and prepare for parliamentary and presidential elections "as soon as possible."
