Egypt and Saudi Arabia agreed on Tuesday, in a joint statement, on the necessity of safeguarding Libya’s unity and stability while supporting efforts to reach a political solution that is agreeable to all parties. The statement also encouraged Libyan parties to work together and move towards the future without any outside interference.

Both countries appreciate the role of the Libyan House of Representatives as being the elected legislative body, representing Libyan people, and entrusted with enacting laws, granting legitimacy to the executive authority and exercising its oversight role.

The two countries also stressed the need for foreign forces, mercenaries and foreign fighters to leave Libya within a specific time frame in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2570 and the outcomes of the Paris Summit and the Second Berlin Conference.

They also put their support behind 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee to continue its work and called on all parties to stop military actions in order to preserve the country’s security and stability.
