A group of Libyan and Maltese citizens will be arraigned on Saturday evening on money laundering and tax evasion charges according to a Maltese police announcement made without revealing their identities.

In the statement carried by Malta's Newsbook, the police indicated that a group of Maltese and Libyan citizens had been arrested, after months of intensive investigations conducted by the Financial Crimes Investigations Department.

During the operation, the police confiscated two luxury cars, about 100,000 euros in cash, a large amount of jewelry, clothing from international brands, foreign license plates, electronic devices including mobile phones, computers, tablets, servers and documents that are currently being analyzed.

The investigations were conducted in coordination with various foreign law enforcement agencies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy and Europol.
