The Libyan Navy announced on Sunday that it rescued 33 migrants of different nationalities from a rubber dinghy in the Mediterranean Sea.

The rescue operation came within the framework of "humanitarian efforts and sovereign missions to protect the Libyan coast, while providing search and rescue services in the Libyan area of responsibility," said the spokesman for the Chief of Staff of the Navy in a statement.

According to the statement, the patrol boat 'Obari' moved immediately after receiving a distress call. After the completion of the rescue operation, the migrants were transported to the landing point at Tripoli Naval base, and transferred to the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency for legal procedures.
