The head of Libya's Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, visited the Old City and the Maghar district of Derna during his visit to the city.

According to a statement from the media office of the Presidential Council, the visit is the first by a senior official to Derna since the beginning of the February 17 revolution.

The statement explained that the Menfi's visit to the Old City and the neighborhood of Maghar, took place with the mayor of the city.

Earlier in the day, Menfi met with the mayor, city elders, the president of Omar Mukhtar University Derna branch, and the city's civil and military leaders.

During his visit, Menfi discussed the returns of displaced persons, national reconciliation and transitional justice.
