The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Libya's Government of National Unity expressed its condemnation and denunciation of Israeli forces storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard at dawn on Friday.

The ministry said in a statement "These dangerous and repeated attacks carried out by the occupation forces, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, besides being a violation of the sanctity of Muslims in performing their religious rites, show the criminal practices adopted by the Israeli occupation and its relentless endeavor to lay waste to rights of the Palestinian people and its disregard for Islamic sanctities."

It described the action of Israeli forces as a "terrorist" act and stressed "the need to respect human rights, including the freedom for Muslim worshipers to perform their rituals in Al-Aqsa Mosque," and called on the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to play its role in deterring these criminal attacks, which disregard all international resolutions and charters.

Clashes erupted between Palestinians gathered in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Israeli occupation soldiers after prayers on Friday when soldiers stormed the mosque. Clashes also took place in a number of Palestinian cities in the occupied West Bank.

Local and international media reported that more than 150 Palestinians were injured in these events, in addition hundreds more arrested.
