Egyptian and British Foreign Ministers discuss situation in Libya

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his British counterpart Dominic Raab held telephone coversation on Tuesday to discuss regional and international issues of common concern, including the Libyan file.

Discussions that took place at the initiative of the British side to address "the situation in Libya," according to a statement by the spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez.

 Shoukryi stressed "the danger of any illegal foreign interventions," noting "the need to contain the crisis and work towards a comprehensive political solution that guarantees the restoration of the Libyan national state and its institutions, in a manner that preserves the capabilities of the brotherly Libyan people and achieves its aspirations towards security and stability."

The two sides agreed to "continue to consult and coordinate between Cairo and London during the coming period regarding all files and issues of mutual concern."
