The media office for Libya's Presidential Council says PM Fayez Serraj has received an official letter from FIFA president Gianni Infantino in which he expressed confidence that international matches would return to Libya in the near future.

Infantino says FIFA will reach a solution very soon, expressing appreciation for the urgent desire of the Libyan people and government to host international matches.

A senior FIFA delegation visited the capital Tripoli earlier in April to research the lifting of the ban and Infantino confirmed that he has had the opportunity to review the report submitted by the Committee on Libya.

FIFA banned international matches in Libyan stadiums in 2013 due to the deteriorating security situation in the country.
