Libya's permanent representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Abdelmutallab Thabet, participated on Sunday, in a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the League's headquarters in Cairo.
This came on the sidelines of Lavrov's visit to the Arab League's headquarters, where he met with Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Bilateral talks on several topics, including the crisis of Ukraine, Syria, Palestine, and the relationship between Moscow and the Arab League.
Lavrov then met with the permanent delegates of the member states to the Arab League.
The Russian minister delivered a statement in which he praised the "balanced and just position" of the members of the Arab League on the Ukrainian crisis, stressing "Russia's determination to strengthen partnership and economic and trade cooperation with the Arab League countries, as well as cooperation at the political level, especially with regard to support for the Palestinian cause".
