168 migrants rescued off western Libya

Libya's Navy announced on Thursday, the rescue of 168 migrants of different nationalities attempting to reach European shores, in two separate operations off the western part of the country.

In a post on the Navy's Facebook page, the Chief of Staff of Naval Forces said that a coast guard and port security agency carried out two rescue operations for migrants who were attempting to cross the Mediterranean on two wooden boats.

He added that they were transferred to the disembarkation point at the Zawiya refinery and all humanitarian assistance was provided before legal measures were taken.
