Local sources in Misrata confirmed to Alwasat that there are contacts and mediations underway with city leaders to release Bashagha government cabinet members Hafed Gadour and Salha Drougi.

The sources added that Foreign Minister Kaddour, Culture Minister Drougi and other personalities were kidnapped by force of arms while they were on their way to the city of Tobruk to attend a parliament session devoted to taking the oath of office.

Alwasat attempted to contact Kaddour by phone but there was no response.

On Wednesday, Government of National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba renewed his rejection of the transfer of power, saying that the Bashagha government "will not have a place and will not work in reality."

Dabaiba, in a video speech, accused the parliament’s presidency of “rigging an extension” and that the majority of parliament members “refused to participate in Tuesday’s session”.
