A delegation from the Russian General Staff, accompanied by a number of Russian army commanders arrived in Tripoli last Wednesday.
The Russian delegation received was by Libyan Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Haddad in the presence of a number of Libya military leaders, according to a statement released on Sunday.
The head of the Russian delegation confirmed that they "came to Tripoli in order to renew and develop relations, and their willingness to work to support the Libyan army, and to provide their experience in building armies."
Al-Haddad stressed the “deepness of relations between the two countries,” referring to “the role of the Russian military establishment in rehabilitating the former Libyan army,” saying, “we look forward to Russia playing an important role in unifying the Libyan military establishment.”
The statement explained that the meeting came within the framework of Al-Haddad's interest in "communicating with all internal and external parties in order to support the military establishment."
