Egyptian Foreign Ministry: FM Shoukry visited Benghazi to follow up on ongoing work to equip Egyptian consulate building

The spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, said in a press statement that Minister Sameh Shoukry's visit to Benghazi, which took place Thursday evening, came to "follow up on the ongoing work to equip the Egyptian Consulate building in Benghazi."

In a press statement published by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Hafez added that Minister Shoukry "had met during the visit with the leaders of the Libyan East, including the Deputy Prime Minister of the Libyan Government, Hussein Al-Qatrani, and the Mayor of Benghazi Municipality."

Hafez explained that Shoukry's meetings, during which they "discussed ways to enhance cooperation to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples, came within the framework of the multiple bonds that bind us and the unity our destinies and goals."

Hafez added that "Minister Shoukry also met during his visit to Benghazi with Marshal Khalifa Haftar, whereby Shoukry affirmed Egypt's full support for efforts to achieve security and stability in Libya, and its great interest in settling its crisis in a way that meets the aspirations of its brotherly people to move towards the future."
