Former Minister of Interior Fathi Bashagha received a delegation from the Gaddadfa tribe in Misrata "to discuss the possibility of pushing for the release of all detainees held since 2011 in accordance with the legal procedures, as part of efforts for national reconciliation and turning the page on the past."

Bashagha stressed the need to consolidate a culture of tolerance and coexistence among Libyans, adding: "We remind all parties and institutions to abide by their responsibilities in accordance with the road map to achieve justice, peace and amnesty for all prisoners, detainees and prisoners from various parties, and to move forward towards the presidential and parliamentary elections in one hundred and ten days", he added.

For his part, a member of the Council of Elders of Misrata, Mohammed Al-Darrat, said in a statement to Alwasat, that the visit came to discuss the release of sentenced prisoners who worked with the former regime, including Mansour Dhaw, Ahmed Ibrahim and others.

He added that the visit was fruitful and there was no disagreement "and we agreed to form a joint committee between the members of the elders council, tribes and the Gaddadfa tribe in order to follow up the matter with the attorney general for their release."

"The health and psychological conditions of the prisoners are very good, and their families visit them from time to time, and we seek to extend the bridge of communication to return fraternal relations between us as they were before," he said.
