The head of Libya's Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, reaffirmed Libya's firm position and its "boundless support for the Palestinian cause until the establishment of its independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital," commending the "steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli occupation."
This came during a phone call by Menfi on Monday, with the president of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas.
The Presidential Council's media office said that the Menfi was briefed during the phone call on the situation in the Palestinian territories and the events in erusalem, and offered his "condolences to those who fell in defense of the Arab and Islamic nation."
The Palestinian president renewed his congratulations to Menfi on assuming his duties while praising Libya's role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
Abbas expressed his keenness to strengthen relations between the two countries, wishing prosperity to Libya and its people.
