Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that "Libya's friends are the closest geographically, not the parties far from it", vowing to stand by Libya "to achieve stability and conduct elections away from foreign interference."

"The main objective of our visit is to resume the work of the embassy in Libya," Mitsotakis said during a joint press conference with the head of the government of national unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, on Tuesday, stressing that "after the opening of the Greek Embassy in Tripoli we will open the consulate in Benghazi."

"We stress the exit of foreign mercenaries and troops from Libya as soon as possible," the Greek prime minister added, noting that Libya and Greece could cooperate in demarcating the border between the two countries.
