UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for "all Libyan parties to respect the ceasefire throughout the country" and for "all foreign fighters to leave Libyan territory."

"Leaders and all UN member states should put the interests of Libyan women, children and men first," he added, according to an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa, on Monday.

Guterres also commented on recent developments, which resulted in the agreement of the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum to select the members of Libya's transitional executive body that will lead the country to elections on December 24, saying: "We have finally made a breakthrough in our work to restore stability. I spoke with the prime minister and the head of the Presidential Council in charge, and I wished them success in the mandate to lead the country through the rest of the preparatory phase till the national elections."
