The UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, stressed the need for all Libyan parties to come together and "accelerate the process of forming a government and urgently call for a unified formal session of the House of Representatives to hold a vote of confidence."

This came during a meeting on Friday with Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio in Rome, to exchange views on the latest developments in Libya, according to a statement by the UN Mission.

The parties discussed the importance of the unwavering support by the international community for the Libyan political process and Kubis expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of Italy for the United Nations efforts in Libya.

Kubis also met with the commander of Operation Irini, Admiral Fabio Agostini, to discuss the continued efforts of the European Union to monitor and enforce the United Nations arms embargo on Libya.
