The Speaker of Libya's House of Representatives, Aguilah Saleh, called on the House to convene in Sirte on Monday, March 8 to "discuss the granting of confidence to the government of national unity," if the Joint Military Commission can confirm security for the session.
If this is not possible, "the meeting venue will be the temporary headquarters of the House of Representatives in Tobruk," Saleh said in a statement on Friday.
The statement added that the invitation came "after reviewing the constitutional declaration and articles No. 13, paragraph (04), and No. 179 of Law No. 04 of 2014, concerning the internal rules of the House of Representatives, and based on the vision presented by the head of the unity government Abdulhamid Dabaiba to structure the composition of the government."
On Friday, Saleh said that the House will grant confidence to Dabaiba's government "if presented appropriately," stressing that the call for a confidence-granting session is the prerogative of the presidency of the House of Representatives.
