U.S. ambassador to Libya Richard Norland on Tuesday confirmed his country's "full support" for the UN Secretary-General's special envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, in calling on the relevant Libyan institutions to respect the road map adopted by the political dialogue forum.

On Monday, Kubis reiterated the international organization's full commitment to the road map adopted by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, urging the Libyan parties to move forward with its implementation.

In a tweet on its Twitter account, the US embassy quoted Norland as saying: "The U.S. fully supports SESG Kubis's call for relevant Libyan institutions to respect the #LPDF roadmap and to take next steps on the path to the December elections, including reconvening the HoR as soon as possible for a vote of confidence."

In a statement issued by the UN mission, Kubis stressed "the urgent need for a session by the House of Representatives to consider granting confidence to the government to be proposed by the prime minister-designate and the smooth transition of power, and the need to ensure steady progress towards the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement."
