Italy and France, in the words of their foreign ministers Luigi Di Maio and Jean-Yves Le Drian, confirmed their joint commitment to Libya and combatting Covid-19, according to the Italian news agency Aki.

"Just before the start of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, I met with French friend and colleague Jean-Yves Le Drian," foreign minister Luigi Di Maio wrote tweeted on Monday.

"In this context, the joint commitment of Italy and France to strengthen coordination on Libya, the Mediterranean region and the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic has been reaffirmed," Di Maio said.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said, as quoted by the French mission to the EU:"a fruitful exchange with my Italian counterpart allowed us to confirm our will to strengthen coordination on Libya, Iran and the Mediterranean region, as well as to coordinate action against the covid-19 pandemic."
