The new head of Libya's Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, arrived in Benghazi on Thursday for his first visit to Libya since the vote by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva last Friday.

Menfi traveled from Athens to Benghazi on an Afriqiyah Airways plane.

The new presidential council consists of the Menfi as president, Abdullah Al-Lafi and Musa Al-Koni members, while Abdelhamid Dabaiba heads the government in the interim unified executive branch, which is scheduled to run the country's affairs until the general elections on December 24.

Immediately after his election, the Menfi vowed in a recorded speech that the presidential council would be "representative of all Libyans, without discrimination or exclusion," reiterating its commitment to hold elections next December and "achieve national reconciliation."
