17 migrants drown off the coast of Libya

The 'Alarm Phone' humanitarian organization affiliated with 'Watch the Med' announced the death of 17 migrants whose boat sank off the Libyan coast.

The organization stated that 82 people from the same boat were found alive, "but were forced to return to Libya and detained under unsafe conditions, after surviving the horrific drowning incident."

On Sunday, the Coast Guard and Port Security Service announced the rescue of 79 migrants of different nationalities, in a rescue operation that took place north of Zawiya.
