The Academy of Naval Studies published pictures of the aftermath of the explosion, which it said occurred in a warehouse, which led to the death of the Academy commanders, Brigadier Ahmed Ayoub, and Brigadier Salem Abu Salah, and the injury of Lieutenant Colonel Rabih Idris.
The Academy of Naval Studies announced Tuesday night that an explosion shook its headquarters, following a fire in one of the Academy's old ammunition stores, according to a navy spokesman.
The spokesman for the ambulance and emergency service, Osama Ali, said that the explosion at the ammunition store occurred following a fire spread from the Tawergha displaced persons headquarters adjacent to the academy.
The Presidential Council, the Ministry of Defense, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Tunisia, France and Italy mourned the victims of the incident.
