India to chair UN Security Council's Libya sanctions committee

India's ambassador to the UN, T.S. Tirumurti, has announced that his country will chair the UN Security Council's Libya-specific international sanctions committee.

During the year 2021-2022, India will also chair the Taliban sanctions committee and the counter-terrorism committee, according to the Facebook page of India's mission to the UN.

The committee was formed by Security Council Resolution 1973 on March 17, 2011 as part of the international reaction to the February 17 revolution.
